Education Scotland is committed to ensuring that professional learning programmes across Scotland are of the highest quality and aligned with our national model of professional learning, national standards and priorities. To achieve this, and in the context of ongoing organisational changes within Education Scotland, we are undertaking a strategic refocus of our endorsement process.

Therefore, we will be suspending new endorsement applications effective immediately. The pausing of endorsement will provide time for Education Scotland to undertake a review of the process ahead of the transition to the refocused agency from 1st November 2025. 

We understand the value of endorsed programmes and the assurance they provide. To ensure continuity, existing endorsed programmes coming to an end of 5 years will receive an automatic 18-month extension. This means that current endorsements will remain valid during this period.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance the quality and impact of professional learning in Scotland. We will provide an update on the progress of the review and the revised endorsement process.

Education Scotland endorsement

A programme which has been previously endorsed by Education Scotland demonstrates that it is informed by the national model of professional learning and links effectively to the relevant professional standards and current policy context.
