Examples of enquiry in education: excellence in headship
The following examples from headteachers were submitted as part of the Education Scotland Excellence in Headship programme.
A major element of the programme is a collaborative professional enquiry around key areas of educational policy and theory identified by enquiry groups.
The purpose of the enquiry is not simply to research and deepen shared knowledge but also to inform future action and improvement. These were shared with colleagues across the Scottish education system, including Scottish Government, local authorities, Regional Improvement Collaboratives and national agencies to support headteacher influence and participation in the policy making process.
Programme participants have explored and developed ‘Think Pieces’ related to a range of educational areas such as, qualifications and assessment, digital learning, empowerment, inclusion, de-politicisation of education, racial literacy and system leadership.
Think pieces can be found under the Programme Structure section of Connected and Collaborative Systems Leadership (CCSL).
If you are a school and system leader and these have inspired you, why not consider signing up to the next cohort of CCSL.
