Welcome to Pondering Pedagogy

A warm welcome to Pondering Pedagogy, a Professional Learning Activity (PLA) for Early Learning and Childcare practitioners. While parts of the PLA may also be relevant for teachers working with children in the early years of primary school, it has been designed specifically for Early Learning and Childcare practitioners.

We recognise the demands of your role and have designed this PLA to fit around busy professional lives. We hope you find it an engaging learning experience that supports and challenges you to reflect on and further develop your practice.

There are two versions of Pondering Pedagogy:

• Online self-directed Professional Learning Activity for individual practitioners.
• Facilitator-led sessions in a downloadable format for whole staff teams or larger groups.

Both versions can be accessed using the tiles below.

The Pondering Pedagogy PLA consists of six self-directed learning steps. To complete the PLA and receive a certificate of completion, you must complete all six learning steps.

We have designed the PLA to be as flexible as possible, allowing you to engage with the learning at a pace that suits you.

You should allow approximately 6-9 hours for the online learning (around 1-1.5 hours per learning step), as well as time to apply and reflect on the learning within your setting.

There is no completion deadline for the PLA. Some practitioners may complete it over a few weeks, while others may spread it across a year or longer. Each learning step includes two videos and you are free to complete the learning in a way that works for you. However, where possible, we encourage you to watch each video from start to finish in a single session rather than splitting it across multiple sessions.
