Pondering Pedagogy is available in two formats, providing flexibility in how practitioners engage with the learning. Alongside the online self-directed Professional Learning Activity (PLA), a facilitated version is available below, to support collaborative professional learning within and across settings.

The facilitated version is particularly well suited to group professional learning programmes, enabling practitioners to learn, reflect and develop their practice together over time. Working through the learning steps as a group encourages professional dialogue, shared reflection and a deeper understanding of the principles that underpin high-quality early learning and childcare practice. Participants have opportunities to explore ideas together, consider how they apply to their own context and support one another to develop and sustain change.

The facilitated version can be delivered within individual settings, across clusters of settings, or as part of local authority professional learning programmes. It can be facilitated by setting leaders, local authority officers or others with responsibility for leading professional learning.

Those requesting the materials will receive a comprehensive facilitator package, including:

  • a facilitator guide
  • presentation slides for each learning step
  • detailed presenter notes, including suggested delivery points
  • background information and links to relevant guidance and practice
  • reflective questions and discussion prompts
  • examples to support participant engagement
  • videos of experienced practitioners sharing and reflecting on their practice

The resources have been designed to support confident facilitation, whether you are delivering sessions within a single setting or working with larger groups of practitioners across multiple settings.

To access the facilitated materials, please complete the request form below. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, those receiving the materials will be asked to participate in the evaluation of the PLA. This feedback will help ensure that Pondering Pedagogy continues to evolve and meet the needs of the Early Learning and Childcare sector.
