When HM Inspectors visited Aberdour Primary School and Nursery Class in Fife Council last session, they found highly-effective play pedagogy in Primary 1 which supports children’s curiosity and enquiry in learning. Observations are used well to plan next steps in learning. Well-judged responsive and intentional planning ensures children receive their entitlement to a full curriculum, where learning is exciting and challenging. The key themes from Realising the Ambition are very much in evidence in the practice being shared.

A sketchnote has been developed to capture some of this work. The acting headteacher has developed a blog which tells how the school has developed its approach to play pedagogy. The recovery update reflects on what has changed and what may be developed further as the school progresses though this recovery year.
