Earlston High School – Professional learning
When HM Inspectors visited Earlston High School, Scottish Borders Council, last session, they found that teachers’ professional learning and a range of approaches to improve learning, teaching and assessment are leading to more consistent learning experiences for young people. Practitioner enquiry and a common approach to planning learning, teaching and assessment are key to this approach. Learning logs support young people to reflect on their strengths and next steps in learning.
A sketchnote has been developed to capture some of this work. The depute headteacher and headteacher have developed a blog which tells how the school has developed its approach to professional learning and a common approach to planning learning, teaching and assessment. The recovery update reflects on what has changed and what may be developed further as the school progresses though this recovery year.
