Enhancing support for primary one: Conclusion

The report has set out the key data on primary one performance across a range of measures, identifying this cohort as a priority for continued focus given the enduring impacts of the Covid 19 pandemic on early learning and development. 

The resources and case studies included illustrate the breadth of well designed, evidence informed and innovative practice being implemented across Scotland to mitigate these impacts. They highlight the strong professional commitment of practitioners, leaders and partners to improving outcomes for children in the early years and to adapting practice in response to emerging needs. 

The education system remains attentive to the challenges faced by this cohort and will continue to monitor progress closely to ensure that support is appropriately targeted, proportionate and effective across all settings.
