Relationships for learning - Countering radicalisation and extremism
Wed, 23 April 2025, 16:00-17:30This session will explore evidence-based, relational approaches to preventing and responding to prejudice based behaviour and extremism. These approaches are established in Scotland’s Education practice and this session will highlight explicit links to countering prejudice based behaviour and sign-post to supportive tools and resources.
We are excited to be joined by TIE who will share the new Digital Discourse Initiative which provides educators in Scotland with tools to counter the effects of online prejudice and hate and teach core critical and digital media literacy skills. It has been developed by experts in anti-prejudice education and counter-extremism strategies.
In addition, we will cover the role of getting it right for every child (GIRFEC), relationships and behaviour, mentors in violence prevention, anti-racist education, LGBT inclusive education and child protection in preventing prejudice based behaviour.
