Everyone’s Included
Lessons to support inclusion, activate bystanders and reduce bullying (Curriculum level 2 and 3)
The Everyone’s Included lessons have been tried and tested for several years in Scottish schools through the Mentors in Violence Prevention programme (MVP). These lessons have been removed from the MVP programme (to allow MVP to focus solely on gender-based violence) and have been repurposed as part of a series of lessons called ‘Everyone’s Included’.
What does Everyone’s Included aim to do?
The aims of these lessons are to support social inclusion and reduce bullying by encouraging children and young people to be active bystanders in a safe way when they witness harmful behaviours.
The pre-delivery information PowerPoint and voiceover guides staff through bystander theory, the foundation for the lessons and explains the rationale for the structure used.

Improvement questions
The Everyone’s Included lessons can be used to help deliver many of the key Experiences and Outcomes in Curriculum for Excellence, contributing to a culture of safety where learning can flourish. Practitioners can use the following questions to prompt discussion:
- What strengths/areas for development are there in your school’s current anti-bullying approach?
- How could Everyone’s Included support current approaches?
- What needs of the school or community could these lessons help address?
