Gender-based violence prevention and response: Sexual violence prevention
The Rape Crisis Sexual Violence Prevention programme gives young people tools to understand and navigate relationships. It includes free educational workshops on building relationships based on consent that are:
- safe
- equal
- positive
Learning includes workshops delivered by specialist prevention workers from local Rape Crisis centres. They cover:
- consent
- power dynamics
- understanding sexual violence
- the impact of pornography
The workshops take place during one class period and are available for the following groups:
- S1 to S2
- S3 to S4
- S5 to S6
Class teachers can contact their local Rape Crisis centre to discuss:
- which workshops fit their curriculum
- age and stage groups
- workshops to suit their timetable
Most Rape Crisis centres ask that the class teacher is present during the workshop.
