The short videos, which are the main features of this resource, follow the moderation process through from discussions about planning for learning to discussions about the evidence of learning.

Education Scotland had asked for nominations from schools, who were willing to be involved in the live narrative project. Its aim is to capture the early developments in how schools are using a moderation process, incorporating Benchmarks for areas other than literacy and numeracy. You are invited to watch this series of short videos of teachers from Liberton High School in Edinburgh demonstrating their approach to engaging with modern languages benchmarks.

The teachers share their reflections on the planning, delivery and purpose behind the pupil evidence of learning and the moderation discussions that take place for S1 pupils working at Third level in writing. Please also read the planning documents and pupil materials that accompany these videos.​

  1. What is the extent of your knowledge of the moderation cycle, its purpose and resources to support it?
  2. To what extent has an effective moderation process been introduced in your school that can be used across different areas of the curriculum?
