Curriculum for Excellence Implementation Plan 2016-17
The CfE Implementation Plan for 2016-17 sets out the key strategic priorities that national partners (Scottish Government, Education Scotland, SQA, College Development Network, the Scottish Funding Council and Skills Development Scotland) will focus on over the forthcoming year. In line with our Delivery Plan commitment to streamline guidance and other material, a summary of the plan has also been produced for the first time this year which focuses on the most relevant practical support for schools.

Curriculum for Excellence Implementation Plan 2015-16
The Curriculum for Excellence Implementation Plan 2015-16 sets out the key strategic priorities that national partners (Scottish Government, Education Scotland, SQA, College Development Network and Skills Development Scotland) will focus on over the forthcoming year.
All of the key priorities are focused on improving attainment, and schools, colleges and education authorities should consider them in the context of raising attainment for all whilst using the curriculum to close the gap in attainment between the most and the least disadvantaged children and young people.
The priorities have been identified following feedback from key stakeholders. The structure of the 15/16 plan is arranged so that it focuses on the following key strategic priorities:
- Progression in learning and evaluating achievement 3-18
- Supporting Improvement
- Literacy and Numeracy including Scottish Survey of Literacy and Numeracy (SSLN)
- Career Long Professional Learning
- Support for engaging parents and carers
- Senior Phase Pathways
- Employability and skills (DYW)
- Using data to support improvement
- Tackling bureaucracy
- Supporting the new National Qualifications
The plan also includes the activities at local level that will be required to achieve those priorities.

Addendum to the Curriculum for Excellence Implementation plan 2014-15
On 20 August 2014 the Management Board published a report from the Short Life Working Group that was established to reflect on the experiences of the first year of the new National Qualifications.
Implementing the recommendations contained within the working group report is an important step forward for all involved in education and delivering national qualifications. It is therefore essential that these recommendations become actions to supplement the current CfE Implementation Plan. This Addendum to the CfE Implementation Plan 2014-15 sets out these recommendations as actions and expectations at both a national and local level. The recommendations for beyond 2014/15 will be included in future CfE Implementation plans.
Practitioners and curriculum planners should incorporate the identified actions into their own delivery plans.
